Finding an apartment is one of the most troublesome things I've had to do the past year. Here are some improvements that I think should be done:
1) All apartment listings should always come with a rough price estimate. It makes no sense to put "Call for pricing" because I would have to trouble myself with calling the apartment, and the apartment leasing agents would have to waste their time attending to me, and giving me information which I could have acquired online.
2) While searching for apartments, I found this pretty neat service that allowed online users to view the 3D model plans. This is very similar to the google maps street view. Here is another efficient system which would help leasing agents save time.
With more efficient systems like that in place, the building owner would have to employ less leasing agents to show prospective clients around, and most of the work is done by the customer. I hope more apartments would consider adopting a system like that.
My cousin is attending graduate school in Boston right now, and he had the same issues when he was looking for an apartment. If you're looking for housing in the LA area you could try to use the Facebook USC Housing page. You can ask people if there are options in the LA area. I've heard some very interesting stories about Craigslist, so maybe avoid that route. I hope everything works out! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the price estimate and increased customer involvement in the apartment rental process. I actually was recently in the process of finding an apartment lease for the month of July. I fortunately found one from a USC student through the USC Facebook group: Free & For Sale. Hope everything turns out okay as well.
ReplyDeleteI know you are looking for a place to move as your apartment contract is going to be due. True that finding a new apartment and moving is the most troublesome as we need to pack and unpack. you know, i have to move out as well to find a new apartment to move in in 2 months as well since my contract is over soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd i know that you are looking for a good gym room in the apartment rather than a good place with good view right? haha. definitely "the Vermont' at Korean Town is suitable for you. Hope you will have a good news from the leasing office
Moving is the worst. I'm always surprised by how much junk I have that I never use.
